PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 317

Highlighting

May 2006·p. 65

THE SHORT VERSION

Thin overlapping layers produce the Giant’s highlight transitions, with each cloth patch lightened through a mixture suited to its foundation. Bone, white, pale green and grey avoid forcing every material towards the same colour. Flesh uses a restrained pale mixture, and the small shield and captive receive separately listed highlights, showing how consistent brushwork can unite a model while still preserving differences in hue and texture.
