Éomer, Théoden, Gamling and Éowyn
April 2006·pp. 79–80
THE SHORT VERSION
Éomer’s armour is painted from the metal outward, with straps re-established in black before the red leather is added. Théoden’s bronze shield and patterned dark tack distinguish the king, while Gamling’s white horse banner becomes his focal detail. Éowyn’s ordinary warrior equipment is deliberately subdued so that her hair draws attention. The commentary shows how selective emphasis can identify characters who share a military palette.
