PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 316

Masterclass: Chad Mierzwa’s Hammerhead

April 2006·p. 49

THE SHORT VERSION

Chad builds mottled camouflage through stippled greens and greys, then masks irregular lightning shapes before applying a dark grey finish. Removing the tape reveals a layered pattern rather than a single flat accent colour. Inside, a pale bone wash over white contrasts with green seats and grey doors. The two treatments give the open transport compartment and exterior hull different materials while preserving a shared restrained palette.
