THE SHORT VERSION

Nick divides the Empire into an attacking wing of Knights and Giants and a defensive group of artillery and infantry. The monsters act as disruptive spoilers, buying openings for conventional troops. Phil instead uses Giants as stubborn shock troops alongside fast Greenskin attackers, with Fanatics and bolt throwers addressing opposing threats. The opposing army photographs show how the same monster can support different tactical plans.

Editorial: The Giants Are Coming

Attack of the Giants

The feature traces Giants back to the Sky-titans, whose mountain civilization was destroyed when the Ogres were driven into their realm. Their scattered descendants survive as slaves, Greenskin companions, Chaos-warped creatures or mercenaries. The Fall of the Sky-titans

The ancestors of Giants once inhabited cloud-wrapped mountain castles, largely removed from smaller civilizations below. The arrival of Ogres after the catastrophe of the Great Maw overwhelms their isolated realm. Survivors disperse into small groups and decline in both numbers and intellect. This history turns the familiar drunken monster into the remnant of a destroyed civilization rather than an inexplicable oversized human.
