TACTICS·WHITE DWARF 313

Warhammer Chronicles: Smallhammer

January 2006·pp. 52–58

THE SHORT VERSION

Jervis Johnson explains why five-hundred-point games deserve attention after years of magazine coverage and playtesting concentrated on tournament-sized forces. They work with the existing rules but create different tactical puzzles rather than reproducing large battles in miniature. Sample Skaven, Tomb King, Goblin and Bretonnian forces demonstrate how sharply a few choices define an army. Practical discussion covers compact boards, heavy cavalry, fast troops, stubborn infantry and monsters, followed by Mike Mason’s Bretonnian experiment against Alessio Cavatore.
