January 2006·pp. 14–17
THE SHORT VERSION
Nick Kyme and Owen Rees explore the Birmingham NEC’s three huge halls, dividing their report between the Forum, Pavilion and Arena. Fully booked Bring and Battle tables, conversion contests and scenery workshops give visitors hands-on activity alongside Studio conversations, author signings and digital games. Giant battles include an entire Steel Confessors Chapter fighting Tyranids and a walk-through Minas Tirith. The day closes with Golden Demon awards and Kiril Kanaev’s Slayer Sword, among a record attendance of roughly nine thousand hobbyists.
