Metal Techniques: Painting Workshop

January 2006·pp. 60–63

THE SHORT VERSION

The workshop compares drybrushing, controlled layers and ink washes on iron armour, then adapts those techniques to different armies and metals. Blue-shaded Elven steel contrasts with brown Orc armour and green-tarnished Skaven plates. Four gold methods show how bases and shading alter warmth and brightness, while coloured inks and painted blue lightning create magical weapons. The examples treat metallic finish as part of a model’s character, with quick army techniques and precise highlights serving different surfaces.
