Gav explains how Oathstones secure positions outside the deployment zone by removing a unit’s vulnerable flanks and rear. Longbeards become Warrior upgrades and Rangers can draw on different Core units, even combining both upgrades for elite scouts. Shieldbearers add attacks and armour to a Lord while giving him a Dwarfish centrepiece. Master Engineers and crew Engineers then make artillery characters a meaningful alternative to the army’s other heroes.
