Torch-Gnoblars

THE SHORT VERSION

Leadbelchers’ servants light their masters’ cannons and commonly bear burns, deafness and explosion scars. Dangerous acceptance rituals develop into Bang, a game in which Gnoblars carry black-powder boxes and burning torches. Those who learn by causing someone else’s explosion may gain a master’s protection; the slower learners join the feast as ingredients. The story makes the profession’s practical role inseparable from its grim comedy.
