The Nature of the Gnoblar: Society and Settlements
October 2005·pp. 96–97
THE SHORT VERSION
Protection, scraps and endless replacements make Gnoblars useful to Ogres despite their incompetence. Within the smaller creatures’ society, large ears and noses imply authority and inspire elaborate frauds, while new camps prosper until the local food supply is exhausted. Shanty towns occupy whatever space their masters tolerate, expanding outward into vulnerable junk heaps. Supposed community cooperation usually serves the strongest inhabitants at the expense of the weak.
