PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 306

Painting Verdigris

June 2005·p. 140

THE SHORT VERSION

Steve Cumiskey’s Ogre gut-plate reverses the usual metallic-first approach: Dark Angels Green, Snot Green and Rotting Flesh establish the oxidised surface before drybrushed Tin Bitz, Brazen Brass and Mithril Silver restore exposed metal. The green stays in recesses while brighter raised areas suggest worn bronze. Photographs of real oxidation and a large chapel show how the same principle scales from small armour pieces to terrain.
