Warhammer Chronicles: Dead in the Water
June 2005·pp. 60–73
THE SHORT VERSION
Andy Hoare and Mat Ward expand Luthor Harkon’s neglected Vampire Coast background into an official alternative Vampire Counts army. Its compulsory commander determines a minimum army size of 2,000 points, and the authors caution that tournament use depends on permission for special characters. Undead sailors combine aquatic movement and conventional crumbling rules with unreliable black-powder shooting, always striking last in combat.
The complete list ranges from deckhands and gunnery mobs to flying Deck Droppers, animated Ogre corpses, a Rotting Leviathan and the immense Queen Bess cannon. Harkon’s fractured personalities and anti-magic condition give the army a distinctive leader, while pirate-themed treasures supply limited magical support. Mark Jones and the US studio contribute conversions assembled from Zombies, Militia, artillery and assorted character parts.
