THE SHORT VERSION

Christian Byrne builds a Red Corsair boarding party and deliberately uses fast, repeatable painting methods after completing other large Chaos projects. Layered reds and ink washes establish the armour, bright lenses and pale crests supply contrast, and unhealthy flesh reinforces the pirates’ character; metal mesh bases place the squad inside a spacecraft rather than on a grassy battlefield.

Painting Hobbit Characters

Dominic Murray uses small, repeatable highlights to distinguish Shire personalities without making their rustic clothes excessively bright. Fatty’s tailored jacket, Bandobras’s horse, Maggot’s weathered work clothes, Lobelia’s apron and Paladin’s worn coat demonstrate related techniques across cloth, skin, hair and wood, with separate colour progressions for all three of Maggot’s dogs.
