Building a Rohan Watchtower
May 2004·pp. 128–131
THE SHORT VERSION
Mark Jones builds a raised wooden watchtower from balsa, card and a textured base. Shaped legs give it Rohan’s horse motifs, while scored planks and carefully reinforced walls make the structure recognisable and sturdy. Diluted glue brushed through fake fur produces thatch. The final painting stages separate weathered timber from the warmer roof and ground, providing a method that can be adapted to other buildings in a Rohan village.
