Building a Beastmen Herdstone
September 2003·pp. 72–75
THE SHORT VERSION
Steve Cumiskey examines Mark Jones’s herdstone, a tribal gathering place built from stacked polystyrene sheets. Rough cuts form the stone’s angular outline, ledges and recessed trophy alcoves, with carved Chaos symbols kept deep enough to survive texturing. Layered greys over a warm base colour define the rock. Weapons, skulls and other trophies then personalise the finished piece, with the suggestion that later campaign victories can add fresh decorations.
