Painting Freehand Banners: Wolves Rampant
April 2026·p. 85
THE SHORT VERSION
The rampant wolf begins as a pattern of small guide dots centred on the banner, followed by a thin sketch that can easily be corrected. Amber traces the figure with Black Legion and uses the Zandri Dust background colour to cut back around limbs, mouth, eye and fur. This makes the final silhouette crisp without requiring every detail to be perfect on the first pass.
