Freeblades

THE SHORT VERSION

Freeblades include survivors, exiles and wandering champions whose lost households are replaced by personal quests. Their heraldry often discards old family devices in favour of individual mottos, skulls and other reminders of mortality, though a last surviving scion may instead preserve an exceptionally elaborate record of their lineage. Illustrated banners show how these choices turn an outcast’s armour into an account of identity and obligation.
