Data Exload: The Badab War

March 2026·pp. 20–23

THE SHORT VERSION

A chronological dossier follows the Maelstrom Warders’ appointment, Huron’s rise, the tithe dispute and the conflict’s successive escalations. Key reversals include the Lamenters’ defeat, Angstrom’s withdrawal, the Carcharodons’ arrival and the Executioners’ rejection of their allies’ conduct. The final settlement distinguishes the condemned Astral Claws from other Chapters sentenced to penitent crusades.

Masters of the Maelstrom

Huron Blackheart’s empire grows from the shattered Astral Claws into a coalition of renegade Marines, mortal followers and alien mercenaries. Personal strength and overwhelming naval power keep his subordinate reavers in line, but he also depends on specialised advisers and enforcers. The feature introduces the inner circle whose surgical, psychic, military and hunting talents sustain that violent rule.

Huron Blackheart — The Blood Reaver

Huron survives the Badab War through immense reconstructive surgery and builds a new power base amid the Maelstrom’s shifting dangers. He grants followers room to pursue their own ambitions while demanding tribute and obedience, destroying those who challenge him. His Tyrant’s Claw and the uncanny Hamadrya embody the mixture of machinery, sorcery and personal menace surrounding him.

Garreon the Corpsemaster

The former Astral Claws Apothecary keeps Huron’s increasingly limited gene-seed supply viable and searches recruits for useful mutations rather than simple purity. His obsession with the transition from life to death leads to grotesque experiments, tolerated only while enough warriors survive fit to serve the Tyrant.
