THE SHORT VERSION

Veteran artillerist Tomas waits on a remote Shyishan shore for what his regiment believes will be a pirate attack. Sickening wildlife, unexplained dreams and unease among the officers gradually undermine that expectation, until black-sailed plague ships emerge from the mist and the defenders’ preparations prove disastrously inadequate.

Wounded and trapped after the gunline collapses, Tomas is found by a grotesque priest whose promises of continued life twist his hopes for a peaceful future. The story turns Nurgle’s offer into intimate horror: survival strips away the memories, beauty and ambitions that made Tomas want to live in the first place.

A Tale of Four Warlords: Amber’s Risen Legion

Amber bases her undead army on people drowned or shipwrecked around the Naiad Archipelago, whose long-resting bodies rise after Nurgle’s invasions.
