Worlds of Warhammer: Angels or monsters?
August 2025·pp. 6–9
THE SHORT VERSION
Andy examines how ordinary inhabitants of the Imperium perceive the Adeptus Astartes. For many, Space Marines exist only in statues and religious stories; meeting one can replace comforting mythology with transhuman dread, even when the warrior is ostensibly a rescuer.
The column distinguishes Chapters that try to preserve human lives from those that regard civilians as disposable. It also considers the different attitudes of Imperial institutions and alien enemies, showing how the same warrior can become a saviour, an object of worship or a terrifying executioner depending on who encounters him.
