Portraits of War: Harbinger of Decay

May 2025·p. 63

THE SHORT VERSION

A mounted Harbinger passes through a swamp with Poxwalkers, white ravens and Nurglings, painted in the colour mood of a decaying wound. Roman combines model-railway leaves at two scales to suggest distance and uses glazes for sickly stains. Nihilakh Oxide and Waystone Green give the verdigris both pale and dark areas rather than a single uniform wash.
