The Road Ever Goes On
March 2025·pp. 8–15
THE SHORT VERSION
Rob and Danny explain the appeal of Middle-earth through nine aspects of collecting and playing: familiar heroes, recreating film and book battles, accurate character painting, accessible turn structure, heroic resources, themed army lists and evocative terrain. A photographed encounter between a bow-armed Rohirrim and a Hill Tribesman demonstrates movement, shooting, duels and wounding, while Might, Will and Fate make heroes more than stronger ordinary warriors.
The final section explains changes in the new edition, including choosing to act first after winning priority, revised Fight values and monster attacks, weighted objective control, passengers and the new Intelligence test. Examples such as Treebeard carrying Hobbits show how narrative identities feed directly into tabletop rules.
