Fur Trim and the Cloak of Valaya
May 2024·p. 165
THE SHORT VERSION
Fine directional lines give the fur a texture distinct from the cloak’s broad soft folds. Stippling progressively lighter reds suggests heavy wool, while a pale sketched pattern establishes the runic border before its shadows and highlights are refined. Cutting back into that pattern with red creates the final knotwork, demonstrating how freehand can be corrected as its shape develops.
