Flowing White Beard and Noble Face
May 2024·p. 163
THE SHORT VERSION
Very thin brown and blue-grey glazes shape the white beard without overwhelming its overall brightness. Painting the face alongside it provides context for judging the depth of those shadows. The skin progresses toward small waxy reflection points, with restrained red glazes on the nose and lips giving the ancient warrior a ruddy, living appearance.
