THE SHORT VERSION

Stuart Nicholls applies the same lighting principle to a large Stormdrake Guard mount. Successively smaller white airbrush highlights establish the dragon’s highest surfaces before translucent blue, green and brown colours tint the scales and membranes. Masking different areas keeps the lighting coherent while preventing overspray from contaminating adjoining colours.
