THE SHORT VERSION
Gloss varnish turns the larger monsters’ claws, brains and tentacles into focal points by using reflected light in place of careful painted highlights. The bases start with textured patches and cut plastic stems, then build a sense of swamp depth through dark water, stippled greens and a final wet finish.
