THE SHORT VERSION
A brown layer is sealed beneath hairspray and a pale acrylic coat, then exposed with a warm, wet stiff brush to create irregular paint chips. The example explains why a spray basecoat can interfere with the method and finishes with varnish; a separate tip recommends stainless-steel agitators for mixing paint pots.
