PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 490

Environmental Concerns

July 2023·p. 35

THE SHORT VERSION

Six test bases range from rusty scrap and dry earth to moss, lava, frozen ground and grass with leaf litter. Texture paints are repurposed to make moss and ice, while crackle effects reveal the hot colour underneath lava. Cotton-bud bamboo, cardboard metal and birch catkins demonstrate how ordinary materials can establish a model’s environment alongside the named paints.
