THE SHORT VERSION

Francesco Olivieri builds rich leather tones from a dark reddish foundation, using successive highlights to define straps and equipment. The treatment keeps the many small details legible without letting them overwhelm the rider, giving Éomer a weathered appearance appropriate to a commander campaigning in the field.
