Painting Thomas’s Blood Angels
December 2019·pp. 124–125
THE SHORT VERSION
Blackburn gives the Blood Angels a warm red armour finish that deepens in recesses and rises through scarlet to a bright orange highlight. Dark brown damage keeps the surfaces from appearing factory fresh, linking the more vivid colour scheme to the worn presentation used elsewhere in his collection.
