James Gallagher’s Crusaders Imperialis

February 2018·p. 121

THE SHORT VERSION

James Gallagher builds a cross-section of an Imperial crusade rather than one uniform faction. Hostile-environment Guardsmen, a Commissar commanding a Vanquisher and a reposed House Taranis Knight provide contrasting scales and colours, letting a succession of different modelling subjects remain part of a single force.

The Golden Legion

The Custodes range gains a dedicated codex and several new ways to build a compact army. Trajann Valoris, jetbike-mounted Vertus Praetors, Allarus Terminators and stoic Wardens broaden the existing Guard kit, with annotated model previews explaining their equipment, command options and visual differences.

Munitorum Report: Adeptus Custodes

The quick tactical portrait contrasts exceptional durability and damaging melee weapons with an army’s very low model count. It also flags the absence of dedicated aircraft, encouraging players to consider how mobility and the jetbikes’ weapon options might address opponents the infantry cannot easily reach.

The Sons of Magnus

The Thousand Sons codex is introduced as both a history of the Legion and an expanded collection of battlefield tools. Three psychic disciplines sit beside familiar Rubric warriors, while Enlightened, Shamans and the Mutalith Vortex Beast bring more of the Planet of the Sorcerers into the army.
