Richard Gray reshapes a Knight’s shield into an immense eye and removes sculpted details to make room for freehand work. Turquoise armour and orange-brown corrosion create the main contrast, with damage concentrated where it is most plausible; the judges emphasise the strength of the colour choices as much as the precision of the decoration.
