INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 423

Sons of Mortarion

October 2017·pp. 50–55

THE SHORT VERSION

Maxime Pastourel explains how the range draws on Jes Goodwin’s Plague Marines, Mark Gibbons’s illustrations and later Nurgle miniatures. Heavy armour, protective equipment and repairs preserve the Legion’s military identity beneath fungus, flies and industrial mutation.

Sculptors develop individual characters within that language, from the Blightspawn’s working churn to the Surgeon’s gaunt silhouette. Mortarion gathers those themes into a centrepiece, while Typhus retains connections to his classic and Heresy incarnations.
