The General’s Almanack: Playing in Character
September 2017·pp. 114–117
THE SHORT VERSION
Dan Harden describes using an army’s personality to guide decisions and create entertaining battlefield stories. Reckless Khorne followers, disciplined Stormcasts, self-preserving Skaven and an arrogant Nagash provide different models for behaviour, even when another choice might be tactically stronger. The general becomes an avatar for the collection, with randomly generated traits suggesting unexpected character and selected artefacts supporting conversions. Dan’s developing Kharadron Admiral illustrates how a miniature’s equipment and an invented sky-port can become the starting point for future games.
