’Eavy Metal: Mortarion

September 2017·pp. 112–113

THE SHORT VERSION

Max Faleij explains how the Daemon Primarch’s armour appears infected rather than merely chipped, with sores and sickly tones spreading even onto the base. Pale decaying wings preserve the balance of the huge model, cloudy eyes suggest disease and purple robes frame the face while recalling older portrayals. Relatively restrained weapon weathering retains the distinction between flesh, ancient technology and daemonic smoke.
