BATTLE REPORT·WHITE DWARF 416

The Hallowguild Massacre

March 2017·pp. 96–110

THE SHORT VERSION

Chris Peach defends his multi-racial city against Steve Bowerman’s Nurgle army in a jointly designed six-round battle. Two 2,280-point forces contest the city gates and a pair of Realmgates, combining narrative armies with objectives adapted from the General’s Handbook. Failed early charges expose the defenders, but militia, heroes and determined duardin make the game unexpectedly close.

Steve’s Blightkings use the Realmgates to rescue a failing flank while his Knights ride past the Ironbreakers to capture the city entrance. Nurgle wins four points to one; the post-battle discussion stresses sporting advice, reactions to changing circumstances and the memorable mistakes that helped both players enjoy the story.
