Gareth’s Ultramarines: Freehand and Details
October 2013·p. 117
THE SHORT VERSION
Gareth prefers hand-painted insignia that match the surrounding miniature’s finish. Repeated grey stages establish shapes before pale paint completes the symbols. Separate guides cover green lenses and parchment with red wax. Patiently controlled, thinned paint lets him fit markings into areas and sizes a transfer might not suit.
