Jeremy asks why apparently strange collecting decisions make sense to their owners. A new league, a desired scenario or a painting experiment can explain a sudden change of army. Talking through those motives reveals useful ideas as well as eccentric habits. He encourages curiosity about other hobbyists’ projects, even when their enthusiasm leads to unusual materials or elaborate personal scenarios.

Jervis Johnson: Miniature Personalities

Jervis considers the personalities players attribute to particular units after repeated games. A veteran regiment can feel dependable while a newly painted monster acquires an unlucky reputation. He recognises tactical habits and selective memory behind those impressions. Even so, the emotional history of a personal collection makes it more satisfying to use than anonymous playtest pieces.
