Jervis Johnson: Gamesmastered Games, Part Two
May 2013·pp. 52–53
THE SHORT VERSION
Jervis explains how a gamesmaster can prepare armies, surprises and independent characters without manipulating the result mid-game. Non-player forces need motives and limited roles so that the players remain central. Victory conditions should reward the story fairly rather than force a predetermined ending. Listening to participants and carrying consequences into a campaign can inspire later modelling and battles.
