Great Eagles: Painting Feathers

January 2013·p. 117

THE SHORT VERSION

Dan uses a large drybrush with very little paint to reveal the sculpted feather texture gradually. Rhinox Hide provides the base, then Mournfang Brown, XV-88 and Baneblade Brown lighten the raised barbs without flooding the recesses. The method makes the dense surface manageable while retaining a natural brown finish across the wings.
