INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 395

Embracing the Pariah

November 2012·pp. 134–135

THE SHORT VERSION

Dan Abnett reflects on returning to Eisenhorn after deliberately leaving the game character’s fate open to collectors. Ravenor revealed a larger narrative, and Bequin’s perspective now allows a third trilogy to bring familiar figures together while leaving readers uncertain about their motives. Abnett explains the challenges of first-person exposition, the appeal of domestic and investigative life in 40K, and how a narrator who knows less than established readers can make discovery part of the experience.
