Blanchitsu: Plastic Characters and the Bits Box

November 2012·pp. 72–75

THE SHORT VERSION

John Blanche explains how single-frame Fantasy heroes become individual members of his 40K Inquisitorial warband. Their archaic armour and distinct silhouettes provide starting points, but the character develops through an organic search among spare components rather than a fixed list of required roles. A Chaos Sorcerer gains Grey Knight and Sister of Battle parts, the Nurgle lord becomes a thug, and a faced Cairn Wraith acquires an unsettling priestly quality, showing how bits and paint can redirect a sculpt’s identity.
