Painting the Thundertusk
December 2011·pp. 86–87
THE SHORT VERSION
Overbrushed granite and earth colours build the coarse fur before pale bone mixtures and a sepia wash unify its texture. Dark metallic fittings are washed brown and picked out silver, while the tusks receive separate grey-earth stages and fine lines towards their points. The article explains overbrushing as a heavier, carefully controlled relation of drybrushing, suited to covering large textured surfaces quickly.
