Steve Buddle: Wood Elf Lord

December 2011·p. 55

THE SHORT VERSION

Steve Buddle reduces lengthy highlighting by beginning with lighter Foundation colours and applying repeated washes. His Wood Elf Lord receives varied brown leather, a two-sided green cloak and gold armour, then a custom sepia-based wash that deepens and unifies the whole figure. Small flesh highlights, hair drybrushing and tidying finish a model in a little over an hour, with the wash’s partly unpredictable result accepted as part of the method.
