Standard Bearer: Bringing Battles to Life

August 2010·pp. 86–87

THE SHORT VERSION

Jervis Johnson recommends naming characters, selected units and the army itself as the first step towards a personal narrative. Questions raised by those names can generate histories and influence how models are used. Named locations, purposeful terrain and a reason for each battle extend the story beyond the roster, while rolls of honour or illustrated journals preserve past events and seed future games.
