BATTLE REPORT·WHITE DWARF 368

Revenge of the Fateweaver

August 2010·pp. 64–85

THE SHORT VERSION

Mat Ward’s Daemons face Matt Hutson’s Dark Elves in a 3,000-point battle after the Changeling sabotages Morathi’s attempt to bind Kairos. Dawn Attack deployment and a simultaneous smaller fight make the arrival of reinforcements depend on another battlefield. Early daemon success comes from durable Bloodcrushers and Kairos’s healing magic, while the side battle delays the Dark Elf relief force.

Epidemius’s growing tally unexpectedly benefits the Witch Elves too, turning them into devastating daemon killers. Kairos disappears through a dimensional cascade at a critical moment, letting the Dark Elves recover, and Morathi survives both magical attacks and the Masque’s challenge. The final 2,245–2,199 score leaves neither army with a decisive victory, giving the debrief as much attention to interlocking rules and terrain as to the rival wizards.
