PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 365

Armour and Chipping

May 2010·p. 99

THE SHORT VERSION

The red plates are highlighted through orange and yellow-brown, with blue wash drawn into shaded areas for a strong cool contrast. Keith then paints a lighter irregular patch, fills it with dark brown while preserving the lower edge, and adds silver at the centre to suggest exposed metal. The sequence makes the boss stand out within the Studio army while keeping his equipment battered and convincingly Orcish.
