Prepared Assault: Why Battle Missions?

March 2010·pp. 67–68

THE SHORT VERSION

Jervis Johnson explains that Battle Missions should reveal the characteristic strategies of different armies while testing adaptation with as few extra rules as possible. Standard armies and ordinary terrain remain usable for thirty missions, while three deliberately unusual bonus games require specific preparation. The chosen demonstration forces Imperial Guard to advance into Ork territory, showing how small changes in deployment and objectives can reverse familiar battlefield roles.
