Eyes, Stubble and Scars
February 2009·p. 99
THE SHORT VERSION
Eyes are painted inside a dark outline, with pupils touching both lids to avoid a startled expression. Stubble comes from adding browns and greys to the existing skin highlight and applying it within a believable beard line. Raised healed scars retain the normal flesh highlights beneath coloured glazes, while fresh cuts begin with red; the examples also suggest cool turquoise recesses as a way to enrich an otherwise warm complexion.
