Painting the Horns
December 2008·p. 88
THE SHORT VERSION
Keith pulls the brush away through long tapering strokes to make the transitions between horn colours jagged rather than banded. The helmet horns move from a dark base towards pale tips, while those on the mount reverse the progression. Both recipes use the same family of browns, ochre and bone with a small final white accent. The paired examples show how brush movement can create texture while preserving different material effects.
